What a snowy day....no school for the kids (I think they're getting used to this). What a commute this morning, roads were awful!!! And it's not even finished yet. We're still supposed to get 2-4 more tonight!!! |

What a gloomy day! Lots of rain all day. It was fairly warm out when you consider how chilly it's been.
Everyone should keep Saturday's schedule open for Oaklands Winter Fest celebration. Ice carving being the main attraction, there will also be other activities for the entire family to enjoy such as a campfire for roasting marshmallows and making smores and sleigh rides. This is definitely an event to check out!

Get ready for the rain....more rain....and then the snow! Looks like this week has the potential to turn in to a sloppy mess. Still too soon to think spring! Wouldn't it be nice to have a full day of sunshine?
The trouble with weather forecasting is that it's right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it. ~Patrick Young

Just another solomn Sunday in Garrett County. The weather was rather mild today, highs around 45 degrees. What a great way to get the Wisp festivites off to a start. Driving past the lake today I spotted a few ice fisherman taking advantage of the great weather today, too.
This is a fairly busy week with events at the Wisp, and don't forget to mark your calanders for the Leap Year party at the Wisp on Friday, there will be lift ticket specials, Mt. Coaster specials, wine tasting, and live entertainment in the evening!
I have to tell you, I thought I was safe from flu season this year. It finally caught up to me! If it comes your way pray you don't get hit with it, it's a rough one!
I found this quote today, I really thought this describes Deep Creek in the height of ski season....enjoy!
The sport of skiing consists of wearing three thousand dollars' worth of clothes and equipment and driving two hundred miles in the snow in order to stand around at a bar and get drunk. ~P.J. O'Rourke, Modern Manners, 1984

Today was the annual Deep Creek Dunk as everyone knows! What a wonderful turnout for a wonderful cause. This years tally of donations is over $89.000! Another successful year. Year after year it never ceases to amaze me how many people are so eager and willing to dive into the ice cold lake to show their support! Way to go dunkers! |
